Terms of Use

1. License

Switchy is a paid app, sold for a one-time fee. Once you’ve paid, I grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Switchy on up to 3 Macs you own or control at a time, for personal or work use. I keep all rights to Switchy that these terms don’t give you.

Payments are handled by Polar (polar.sh), which acts as the merchant of record: it takes the payment, charges any sales tax or VAT, and sends your receipt and license key. Switchy checks your license key with Polar when you activate it and from time to time after that (see the Privacy Policy). To move your license to a new Mac, free up an old one in the Polar customer portal. Keep your key to yourself; a key that is shared or resold may be revoked.

You may not:

2. What Switchy changes on your Mac

Switchy changes system settings when you use its switches, for example appearance, DNS servers, Do Not Disturb and Finder settings. Some actions can’t be undone: Empty Trash permanently deletes files, and stopping a server in the localhost tracker ends that process. Check before you use them.

3. 2FA codes: keep a backup

Switchy stores your 2FA secrets in your Mac’s Keychain. I never receive them and can’t recover them for you. If you lose your Mac, reset its Keychain, or delete an account by mistake, you could lose access to the services those codes protect. Keep your services’ recovery codes, and export an encrypted backup from Settings → Codes. You’re responsible for keeping your backup password safe.

4. Your accounts with other services

Deploys and Usage connect to services you already use, such as Vercel, Cloudflare, Anthropic and OpenAI, with your own tokens and sign-ins. Your use of those services is governed by their terms, and you’re responsible for the tokens you add. Switchy isn’t made, endorsed or supported by any of them.

5. Updates

Switchy checks for updates once a day and can install them automatically. You can turn this off in Settings → General. These terms apply to every update unless it comes with different terms.

6. Privacy

The Privacy Policy explains what Switchy stores and sends. It is part of these terms.

7. Third-party software

Switchy includes open-source software, each under its own license: Sparkle (MIT License) for updates, and KeyboardShortcuts (MIT License) by Sindre Sorhus. Those licenses apply to those components.

Apple, Mac, macOS, iCloud and Touch ID are trademarks of Apple Inc. Claude is a trademark of Anthropic. Codex and ChatGPT are trademarks of OpenAI. Other names are trademarks of their owners. Switchy is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them.

8. No warranty

Switchy is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. I don’t promise that Switchy will be error-free, always available, or work with every version of macOS or with every third-party service.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, I am not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost access to accounts, lost profits or business interruption, arising from your use of or inability to use Switchy, even if I was told they were possible. My total liability for any claim about Switchy is limited to the amount you paid for it.

Some places don’t allow these exclusions or limits. Where that’s the case, they apply only as far as the law allows, and nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that can’t be waived.

10. Ending the license

You can stop using Switchy at any time by deleting it. Your license ends automatically if you break these terms. When it ends, delete Switchy from your Macs. Sections 3, 4 and 7 to 10 continue to apply after it ends.

11. Changes to these terms

I may update these terms. The current version is always on this page with its effective date. If you keep using Switchy after a change takes effect, the new terms apply.
